BurgundyBlend vs Square Appointments
Square is scheduling and payments software. It does not go and find you clients. We are a discovery marketplace, and the calendar is the part that comes after.
The short answer
Choose BurgundyBlend if your calendar is handled and the real problem is that not enough people know you exist. Square Appointments runs the appointment once you have found the client yourself; we do the finding as well, and the calendar, staff, deposits and payouts come with it.
Why you can trust BurgundyBlend
Payments run on Stripe

Two different jobs
These are not the same product with different prices. Work out which problem you actually have.
Square Appointments is for
Square is a calendar and a card reader. It runs the appointment once you have already found the client yourself.
BurgundyBlend is for
BurgundyBlend does the finding as well as the running: The Chair puts your work in front of people across Canada and the US, and the calendar, staff, deposits and payouts come with it.
Side by side
The decisions that actually differ, rather than a feature count.
| Decision | BurgundyBlend | Square Appointments |
|---|---|---|
| Where new clients come from | The Chair puts your work in front of people across Canada and the US who were not looking for you by name. | No marketplace, so every client is one you found and paid to find yourself. |
| What you pay | Free to list and to take bookings. $3 flat when we introduce somebody new, nothing on your own clients. | Free for one person, then a monthly fee once you have staff, paid whether the calendar fills or not. |
| Running the shop | Calendar, staff, availability, deposits, payouts, reviews and reporting included at no cost. | Strong scheduling and card handling. This is not the axis the decision turns on. |
| Point of sale and retail | Not our scope. If a card reader on the counter is central to your day, keep it. | A genuine strength, and a reason plenty of shops run Square alongside us. |
| Your brand | Your own storefront, link and QR codes. Clients you brought are free forever. | Fully your own, because nothing is bringing you clients to share. |
Does being on a marketplace cost me my own clients?
It is the fair question to ask, and our answer is in what we charge. You get your own branded storefront, your own link and QR codes, and clients you bring yourself are free forever, however many times they rebook. We are paid only when The Chair puts you in front of somebody new. A platform that takes a percentage of every booking, or a monthly fee whether it sends you anyone or not, is charging you for the clients you already had.
Worth adding us if
- Your calendar is handled and the real problem is that not enough people know you exist
- You want new clients, not better admin
- You would rather pay for a result than for a tool
You do not have to switch anything. Listing is free and there is no monthly fee, so keep what you use and let us prove it by sending you someone.
